Biography
Rodrigo Garcia was born in Colombia, grew up in Mexico City and studied History at Harvard University in Boston. He later graduated with a degree in Cinematography from AFI in Los Angeles. By the late 90s, Rodrigo began directing commercials (Coca Cola, Disney, Proctor & Gamble, to name a few) as well as debuting as a filmmaker. His features as writer and director include “Things You Can Tell Just By Looking at Her” (Fondation Gan Award, Cannes 2000,) “Ten Tiny Love Stories,” “Fathers and Sons,” “Nine Lives” (Winner Locarno Film Festival, 2005,) “Mother and Child” (Grand Prix du Jury at the Deauville American Film Festival, 2010,) and most recently, “Albert Nobbs.” Rodrigo also directed for the series “Six Feet Under” and “The Sopranos,” as well as the pilot episodes of “Carnivale,” was nominated for an Emmy for his direction of the pilot for “Big Love,” and directed several episodes for HBO's acclaimed half-hour drama “In Treatment,” where he also served as Writer, Executive Producer, and Show runner for the project. Rodrigo’s writing, producing, and directing skills continue to breaking new ground with award-wining scripted dramas for the digital age in his new channel, www.watchwigs.com, where he has overseen more than 130 webisodes as the Executive Producer and written and directed over 50 of them.
