BiographyPatricia Martinez de Velasco was born in Mexico City. She graduated with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana and Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. She directed award winning shorts and documentaries. Her first feature film, “Aquí Entre Nos,” became one of the Top 5 Mexican films at the box office in 2012. Among its many international awards are: the Bronze Zénith for First Feature Film at the World Film Festival in Montreal and the Best Feature Film Audience Award at the 37th Iberoamerican Film Festival in Huelva, Spain. “Aquí entre Nos” was also selected as the Opening Night Gala film at LALIFF in its 15th birthday celebration. NALIP made Patricia the recipient of the 2012 ESTELA Award narrative winner, an honor given to a “talented Latino filmmaker whose achievements reveal leadership, creativity, and tenacity, as well as vision and passion for her craft."Patricia’s award-winning commercials include the PSA "Dad", Best of Show at the New York Festivals, and the PSA "Reality", winner at the AICP Show and now part of the permanent collection at the MoMA in New York. Her participation directing one of the "Bedtime Stories", for the California Milk Processor Board, got her the Cannes Bronze Lion Media Award in 2013.She’s a finalist at the Directing Fellowship Program from NBCUniversal.She is the author of the book “Women Directors: Projection of a Dark World,” edited by the Mexican Film Institute and the CONEICC.
